hi guys, I have a Samsung smart doorlock that I bought from bunnings round 5-6 years ago & to be honest the cracks started to appear much earlier like in year 2 or so.. i just didn't do anything bout it 😞
im wondering what can be done apart from the obvious new lock replacement.. can Samsung replace it or something??
Hi @ak2,
Very likely the 'screen' is acrylic plastic which has become 'crazed'.
Often related to issues during the manufacturing of acrylic sheets and only becomes visible when triggered by something, in your case thermal (likely sunlight & heat). I got a smart watch when they first came out and after a while I could not read the time lol.
It will take some nifty DIY to replace with another piece of acrylic plastic - can be done.
Cheers
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ak2. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Samsung door locks.
Unless there is a replacement screen spare part, I would presume this is a case of the lock needing replacement. If it was purchased through us and you have your proof of purchase, you could certainly speak with our team in-store, and they can check on your warranty for the product.
If you can provide details on a model number then we could looks for your warranty details to see whether this is something that falls under it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
