Can i lay laminate or hybrid flooring on top of carpet?
Hi there I recently went into Bunnings and was told by a staff member I’m able to lay the flooring over carpet but everything in Google says no!
I’m in a rental & don’t think my landlord is keen on me removing the carpet but I need it to get my beauty room council approved.
What can I do if he doesn’t want the carpet removed ??

Re: Can i lay laminate or hybrid flooring on top of carpet?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @shars88. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about laying flooring.
Unfortunately, our laminate and hybrid vinyl planks are designed to go over hard surfaces and not carpet. Both would require the carpet and underlay to be removed and the subfloor prepared adequately for the flooring installation. You could still attempt the installation, but warranties from the companies wouldn't be provided.
Since these floorings won't be possible, I suggest you ask the council what other floorings might be acceptable for your beauty room. If it's a requirement that you have a hard, washable surface, then I suspect you'll have great difficulty achieving that over carpet.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
