How to fill gap between granite patio and house?

HI.

I need to fill a 20mm gap between a granite tiled patio and a rendered wall house with a ceramic tile patio.

The house and patios are on fill so there is a bit of earth movement.

Grout seems like it would crack with earth movements but the gap seems a bit wide for silicone.

Appreciate any ideas on best product and application approaches.

Re: Need to fill gap between granite patio and house

Hi @Steve5,

A 20mm wide gap is within the acceptable limits of Sikaflex Pro+. This sausage is applied with a Sika Professional Sausage Caulking Gun. Alternatively, you could apply the product with standard cartridges, but it will be slow going, and you'll use quite a few of them depending on the gap length.

To function as an expansion joint correctly, you must stick with a 2:1 width-to-height ratio for the gap. So, since it's 20mm wide, the gap needs to be 10mm deep. If it's deeper, you can use a filler rod to fill the bottom of the gap. Also, it would be best if you used Sika 250ml Primer-3N Adhesion Primer on both side walls to promote adhesion. This primer is not required for the base.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
