How to remove the protective film on Gorilla tape?

Does anybody know how to easily remove the protective film on Gorilla tape? I've tried using a sharp knife to separate the layers, but I still end up with a crumpled corner!

Thanks

Re: How to remove the protective film on Gorilla tape?

Hi @Ronb1949,

Gorilla mounting tape is particularly sticking; that's why it works so well. I find it best to cut the length I need and then adhere it to one of the surfaces, pushing it firmly in place, especially the corner I'll be removing the film. I then take a knife and pry up the corner of the backing film. If I cannot adhere the strip first, I pinch the mounting tape on the back corner with my fingernails and then, whilst pulling it away and pick the corner of the film up with a knife.

Typically, I end up with a somewhat distorted corner, but generally, that doesn't affect the use of the mounting strip. How badly are your corners crumpling? Perhaps you could share an image with us.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
