Looking to refresh the top of the bathroom cabinets around the sink. What you be the best paint & most affordable paint & primer?
thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @PatsyF. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about painting a cabinet.
For refreshing the top of your bathroom cabinets around the sink, you want a paint system that will stand up to moisture, cleaning and occasional splashes. The Dulux Renovation range is one of the best choices for this type of job as it is formulated specifically for cabinets, benchtops and similar surfaces that get heavy use.
If you are trying to keep costs down, the White Knight tile and laminate paint range is a more budget-friendly option. For bathrooms, it’s a decent choice on vertical surfaces and non-porous cabinetry, and it will refresh the look. However, White Knight does not offer a paint that is as hard-wearing as the Dulux Renovation range for horizontal bench surfaces. Around a sink where water and scrubbing happen often, the Dulux Renovation product will generally hold up better over time. The White Knight range will still give good results if you are on a tighter budget.
Preparation is key: clean thoroughly with a degreaser and lightly sand or scuff the surface so that the primer bonds well. Apply the paint in thin, even coats and allow full cure time before using the cabinet top, this will help the finish last.
