Have had a window in my bathroom damaged by contractors and was not reseated properly. Have since got another contractor in to reseat the window but they didnt install reveals. Just wondering what the best way to do this and what measurements to use to box the reveals out.
House is brick external to stud frame.
Hi @throatgoat,
Typically, your window reveals are nailed to the framing with a finish nailer, and they end flush with the plasterboard with architraves running over them to conceal any gaps between them and the plasterboard. The architraves are often installed with 2-3mm of reveal showing, but they can be set at different measurements as long as they are consistent. Having a look at the reveal measurements on the other windows in your home would be a good idea, as it will ensure consistency across your home.
We'd need to see the window and get some measurements to recommend specific timbers for this application. If you can upload some photos of the window, with the height, width and depth of the reveals, I could recommend the best timber to use.
Once I can see what you are working with alongside a few measurements, I will happily assist further with fixings and timber profiles that will work.
