Laundry makeover - Room to give the dog a haircut!

The original laundry for the house with a tiny bench and nowhere to fold clothes, hang delicates, and most importantly, give the pooch a haircut!

So ripped all but the main cupboard shells out, painted the doors etc with Duluxe Renovation range, installed a new benchtop.

I put an inbuilt shelf frame up and lined with ply and painted (super strong!), installed a new sink and tap and finally hooked the washer and dryer up.

Happy how it all came together in the end!

( I did everything myself except the tiling. I chickened out last minute when I realised that 1. I've never tiled before and 2. Tiling is one job you can't "hide" mistakes with! I didn't want all my work done to date look ruined with bad tiling :). I did remove the tiles and re-plastered walls where I had removed)

Re: Laundry makeover - Room to give the dog a haircut!

Hello @gmac123

You could order a Kaboodle raw base end panel and paint it in the same colour as your cabinets. But if you are using Kaboodle cabinetry a single base end panel in the same colour as your laundry doors can be ordered to go with your cabinetry. The panel can be mounted directly onto tiles and angle brackets screwed into it. It would be best to anchor it to the floor with an angle bracket.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: Laundry Makeover - Room to give the dog a haircut!

Hello!

only took me years to respond, sorry!

Four years since the build and it’s been fantastic and still looking great and no issues at all.

The hanger has been fabtastic - use it to hang dry tshirts and smalls. Anything that touches the bench we just put a towel underneath. Lucky the laundry faces easy and gets sunny and warm in the first part of day so perfect for drying.

Re: Laundry makeover - Room to give the dog a haircut!

hello!
Unfortunately there was zero room at the end of the bench for me to use a panel (and still fit the washer and dryer).

So I used two of these, bolted into the wall:  250x250 galvanised heavy duty angle brackets.

It’s rock solid and hasn’t moved at all four years on since installing . Obviously, we don’t stand on it, but we have loads of washing, a 10kg dog, on it for cuts etc and no movement at all.

Thanks @mangoaqua

If it’s not too much bother, I’d love to know the total length of your bench and how much of it was overhanging (not supported by the cabinet)?

Re: Laundry makeover - Room to give the dog a haircut!

Hello @gmac123

I would conservatively estimate it to be the size of two standard laundry machines which is 610mm or 1220mm (when side by side) plus whatever spacing you might have left. But let me tag @mangoaqua as well so they can see your follow up question.

Re: Laundry makeover - Room to give the dog a haircut!

Hi

Bench is 2.4 metres. The cupboards on the left are 1.34m. So about 900 overhang. The bench doesn't go all the way to the end due to it being a sliding door that needs to open.

Hello @mangoaqua

Thank you for that extra bit of information about your benchtop. Let me tag @gmac123 to make them aware of your answer.
