Laundry makeover - first time reno

Just thought I’d post for those who are a bit apprehensive about starting a project.. we have lived in our house for 25+ years and I’m afraid it took covid to get me up and running on this project I had always wanted to do! Our laundry room was just a dumping ground for everything to do with cleaning and there was nowhere to put anything away plus we had a large laundry sink that was never used. I’m just going to post the pictures but will say we are both seniors with NO experience but plenty of “can do” and willing to try and if necessary change any mistakes ( there were plenty 😂)

Re: Laundry makeover - first time reno

Amazing job with the Reno! I’m also wanting to do something similar with our laundry (will be my first Reno). How did you install the timber bench top? What did you use to secure it so it stays up?  I also want a timber Benchtop with a similar splash back.

Re: Laundry makeover - first time reno

Hi The benchtop is from Bunnings ($99 or thereabouts) and we got the timber people to cut it to exact size for our space. To hold it up we bought 30ml width timber pieces again from Bunnings and screwed them along back and sides of walls and laid the benchtop on top of timber. It was such a good fit we didn’t need to do anything else although you could screw under benchtop through the battens to secure if needed. Also I oiled the benchtop about 3 times with indoor oil left to dry then applied wax when in situ (just a plain wax from Bunnings well rubbed in) ... it was really simple so nothing to daunt you on your first time. Good luck! Don’t hesitate if you want further info

Re: Laundry makeover - first time reno

Brilliant job! Your laundry is just a bit bigger than mine and it looks amazing. I have considered removing sink as i rarely use it, but instead (due to cost)  may just have one set in low and the bench cutout used to cover it when not in use.  Love the inspiration on these posts.  Thank you.
