What are your must-have plants in a garden?

Beautiful_Red_Rose.jpegEvery garden should have a camellia. Once established you will get beautiful flowers year after year with very little effort. - greygardener

There wouldn't be too many gardens that didn't have a rose. - Isobel

Agapanthus lining a driveway, fenceline or around a tree? - Gibbo

Tomatoes would have to be the most popular veggies, but I think the must-have plants are a herb garden. Mint, parsley, basil, coriander, thyme and rosemary. - Kellie

I love nectarines and have a nectarine tree that produces bazillions (technical term) of them around Christmas time. I also have two lemons and a lime tree - the lime is prolific.

If you need to screen something, Lilly Pillies are terrific. Certainly more attractive than pittosporums if you ask me. - DIY_Dan

I've just moved into a new place with an absolutely prolific fig tree and I don't know how I'd ever go back. They may not be to everyone's taste but I'm looking forward to figgy tart, jam, salads, drinks - everything!

I don't have much of a green thumb so anything nice and hardy is a winner with me - the fig tree will take care of itself, and I plan on setting up a nice little herb/lettuce garden which after getting set up should hopefully just need ongoing watering to thrive! - Emily

Succulents, herbs, fruit/veg, frangipani. That's about it for me. I like to keep things simple, useful and easy to maintain. - ProjectPete

Roses and camellias. - MartyH
