Cedar spa gazebo rebuild

Growing in Experience
Growing in Experience

This restoration of a weather-damaged spa gazebo created a fresh, comfortable space for a relaxing outdoor soak.

The project

This was a complete three-day makeover. The spa was working but filthy, and the gazebo had been badly damaged by water, hail and weather.

We had to reframe all the base boards on the gazebo to pull back into shape. We bought additional slated pieces of Cedar from Bunnings to make up the missing door panel.

The original Laserlite roof panel had been broken by hail and we couldn't get another to fit so we used two overlapping Laserlite panels to make it wide enough. We built a raised wood panel in the middle to allow rain runoff.

Once it was all secured and rebuilt, we added a latch to make it child safe (and compliant), then pressure-washed everything. We used exterior paint in a warm wood brown, applying it with an Ozito spray gun and using a paint trim guide to protect the windows. We used a dark green floor paint to finish the concrete pad.

Hi @PhillipRaymond

Many thanks for joining the Bunnings Workshop community. You have joined a friendly, helpful community of people who are happy to roll the sleeves up and get stuck into home improvement projects.

We try to encourage everyone to have a go and will happily provide the advice and support you need. But if you need a tradesperson to assist you, we recommend you try a site like Airtasker or hipages. We sometimes get members on Workshop asking for recommendations for tradespeople in their area, but Workshop is a community for people right across Australia and New Zealand so it is unlikely that there will be a member near you who can recommend someone suitable. It's best to go direct to a site that is designed for that purpose.

Feel free to reach out any time you need a hand.
