Sanding and varnish gave this dining table and chairs a fresh new look.

The project

I challenged myself to a dining table and chairs makeover. I bought the secondhand dining set, sanded back the table and seats to remove the dark wood colour using an electric sander bought from Bunnings, and applied a few coats of clear varnish. I used the Bondall Monocle clear gloss varnish. It was a cafe cream colour that I used in a $49 Ozito spray gun from Bunnings. I gave the guy at the paint counter my cafe cream sample kitchen countertop colour and he keyed it into the computer and produced the colour.

Using three coats of varnish over three days, lightly sanding with 400-grit sandpaper in between each coat. I lightly sanded the chair frames and used a paint spray, also bought from Bunnings to spray a light off-white tone. What a difference a little (or lot of) time and elbow grease can achieve. On to my next project. Thanks Bunnings.

Good Afternoon @NickiM

Wow, it certainly lifts that setting dosnt it! Love how upscaling a dated piece of furniture brings it back to what really is better then the original

I must admit I have started looking at older pieces and thinking about how they "could look" and this one certainly fits the bill.

Now the question is... Whats the next project?
