A glass pool fence panel exactly the same size as a European pallet is perfect for a simple coffee table.

The project

 

We have an alfresco area and needed a coffee table, especially as we had visitors coming over. 

 

My wife had salvaged two European pallets from roofing tile repairs at her work. Why European ones? Because they're 800mm x 1200mm, the perfect size for a glass pool fence panel (the pallets are also available from Bunnings on occasion).

Materials

 

Here are the materials used:

  • 800mm x 1200mm glass pool fence panel: $80
  • 4 x 100mm castors plus fixing screws: $51
  • 6 x 150mm 14G batten screws: $15 (smaller pack may be available)
  • Clear button surface protectors : $2
  • 2 pallets: Free

Total cost: $148.

 

Assembly: One to two hours.
