Kaboodle cabinets installed with new lighting and a new splashback for this kitchen renovation.

The project

What a journey this has been. We started ripping our old kitchen apart in June 2022 and finished installing the new one at the end of October 2022.

We were tossing up between Kaboodle and Ikea and landed with Kaboodle due to the vast number of options they provide, from colours to door panel designs to cupboard inserts.

We decided to tackle as much as we could ourselves considering the overall cost with having to buy a whole new kitchen along with appliances. We lived in the house at the same time too so we also had to be very methodical with what we did and when.

We had a sparky and plumber come in to complete the lighting, plumbing and gas works and I did also leave the splashback to a professional. It is such a large visual piece that relies on being straight (plus the cost of them) they needed to be done right.

We built in the wall cabinetry and I'm so glad we did. It wasn't easy and finishing the join between plasterboard and cabinet was no easy feat but we did it. I am so so proud of how much we did and how much we learnt in the process.

We now have a beautiful, slightly larger kitchen and an abundance of storage. The benchtop is called Bambucha.

Please look past the flooring for now. We're in the process of picking an engineered Oak for it. It's been a long and difficult slog but I'm so happy with the end result.

Good Afternoon @KashiaCherry

Thats a nice kitchen you have installed! Definently an improvement! How did you get those tiles off the wall without ripping the plaster away lol Far out, old tiles on old wall and I have never managed to keep it in one piece.

Just looking at your cupboards are they slide out shelves or fold out? (The ones with the handel at the top) I like the look.

Cant wait to see it when you have the floor done!

Hi @Dave-1

Thanks very much!

We were honestly just as surprised! They came of one by one using a breaker and hammer. We just sort of chipped away and they fell off....so maybe the adhesive had gotten that old?!

The cupboards at the bottom? One is a pull out bin, one the dishwasher and the narrow one is a pull out metal wrack shelving system.

Thanks again!
