Building a side gate can be an easy D.I.Y. project. This great looking gate was built for a quarter of the price quoted by a professional, saving money that could be used for landscaping.
After getting a few quotes for a side gate and panel and getting the shock of our lives at the cost, my wife and I decided to D.I.Y. this job.
I sketched my design and decided to go with a Merbau gate and fencing panel and Cyprus timber posts.
We used an auger post hole digger, which reduced the labour, despite a few incorrectly placed holes.
Happy with the final result – just some minor landscaping to tidy it up. We completed this project without too much difficulty and enjoyed the D.I.Y. opportunity. It ended up being less than a quarter of the price quoted.
