I've been noticing these kind of worm lately. Are these Australian Flatworms? Should I let them be, or kill them?
Thank you.
Hi @sunnyg,
It’s quite possible that what you’re seeing are Australian flatworms. They do play a role in the ecosystem by preying on soil invertebrates, so they aren’t necessarily harmful unless they’re affecting something you care about, like earthworms in a garden you’re trying to maintain. If they aren’t causing any obvious problems, the best approach is to leave them alone and let them do their thing. There’s no need to kill them unless you notice they’re negatively impacting your soil or garden.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Thanks, Mitchell.
I am not actively maintaining earthworms but as a novice gardener I was worried if it would hunt down all the earthworms that are naturally there in my garden.
