I discovered Bunnings sold Cymbidiums this year and bought a few 😁 unfortunately, one of them didn’t have a name tag (think the sticker fell off).
Am hoping someone else also bought the same orchid type and theirs have a name sticker on it.
Hi @Rach23
Sadly I cannot assist - there are hundreds, if not thousands, of cymbidium varieties. I cannot identify yours from the image. If you could tell us which Bunnings you bought it at, then maybe Jason or one of the Bunnings team may be able to contact the grower and find out for you.
I bought it from Bunnings Altona.
Hi @Rach23,
Did you purchase it recently? I'll investigate and see if I can find out what variety it is. If Bunnings Altona still has them in stock, then I'm sure they can let us know the name. The flower shape does resemble Cymbidium faberi Rolfe, but as @Noelle has pointed out, it could be any one of several varieties that look similar.

I bought it early August this year. It was the only one there that had red buds.
I was assuming Bunnings would buy a whole heap from the one supplier and then randomly distribute to their stores. When I posted this, was hoping that someone else would have bought the same type from another Bunnings store but theirs still had the name sticker on it.
Unfortunately with cymbidiums, there is so many orchids that look similar, it’s hard to tell. But much appreciated for the picture/name above. Will monitor the flower as it opens wider to see if it’s the same one 😊
Hello @Rach23
It's great that you've received excellent advice from my colleagues. Looking at the photo you posted, it definitely falls in the Cymbidium variety and the closest one I could find is called the "Boat Orchid" I/N: 0248483. Unfortunately, the orchids have been classified under a single item number. I've contacted Bunnings Altona and Bunnings West Footscray and they are currently out of stock of that particular variety.
Once the flower has fully bloomed and stretched out please make sure to take a picture so that you can show the garden specialist at another store as to what type of orchid you're after.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi @Rach23
As others mentioned identifying Orchids is tricky as there is so much breeding going on.
If you can have a look at your receipt and give us the barcode number of the plant we can go back to the supplier and ask. The item number will appear on your receipt. If the pot has a pricing sticker on it - there may be a 7 digit item number as well which could help.
Let me know.
Hello @Rach23
I've managed to track down the original item number of the product you purchased I/N 3600972. But after speaking to Bunnings Altona this particular orchid has been sold out. However, Bunnings West Footscray has just received a batch of new orchids. I managed to track down the supplier and they identified the photo you posted, it's called the "Pink Perfection" originally a cross between Valley and Olympic. I suggest calling the store before going to make sure they have this particular variety in stock.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
