Edible garden makeover

We have lived on our property for around 26 years and it is an ongoing project. Until lockdown  I hadn’t really grown much in the way of edibles apart from a few fruit trees. I have always loved gardening and hubby loves building things and so we have now added quite a big area where I can grow lots of produce. I am still learning about this side of gardening but my motto is give it a try and  don’t necessarily follow the rules! It is a bit of a challenge on our property as we have wild rabbits and a Golden Retriever who eats everything!! My garden is organic and I don’t  use sprays for pest control even if stated as eco as this can kill beneficial infects too.

I started out with some raised corrugated beds fand some wine barrels.

Next I had hubby build raised beds out of sienna food safe sleepers and  have since extended that to a lower level.

Fruit and ornamental vines are grown over hubby built arbours and arches .

I also had some old pots that I have hung onto Verandah fencing with Whites pot holders which I grow strawberries in.

To extend growing season and start seeds and seedlings we have purchased a Maze greenhouse ( the build process can be found on another post)

We have lots of bee attracting  plants  and I have added more inside and around the greenhouse. Also a few more bird baths  to keep the bees and birds happy!

Composting is also a big part of gardening and I love our Maze tumbler also purchased in lockdown!

Hi @LisasGarden,

You have done such a fantastic job on your garden! Haha I am sure your fur babies are loving it too.

I have heard that worm farms are great to have for veggie gardens, have you started one? If so, how are you finding it?

Hi @LisasGarden

It's always a pleasure getting photo updates of your garden. That greenhouse is looking fantastic, it feels like it was only yesterday you were putting it up. I'm sure Glen will be very happy he got a special mention in your post.

We look forward to seeing your next update!

Thanks Katie.

No I haven’t tried a worm farm,  but I do have a tumbler composted that I love.

Re: Edible garden makeover

Hi @LisasGarden

Does the tumbler composter get earthworms in it or do you just get compost and nothing else?
