How to create a succulent garden using pebbles and pots?

This concrete slab was full of stones this morning. I've cleared it as I want to make a succulent garden. My idea was to lay down white large pebbles and then have rounded style pots (see image) where I could plant the succulents.

I'm just wondering should I put the pebbles right up to the fence line there and also Id like to make some sorts of stop gap between the dirt and slab adjacent to the fence line.

Unless there is something easier to lay then pebbles over the concrete slab that will complement the pots and succulents, I'm open to suggestions.

At this stage - I'm just in the laying the foundation phase.

Cheers.

Re: Advice for a succulent garden

@Dave-1

I really like what you did but I don't think it's going to logistically work for this space. I'm now considering using these.

I also really love the idea of the white pebbles - it will create some good contrast down the track and a succulent "money tree" would be nice. When it matures hopefully so will my money ha ha

Re: Advice for a succulent garden

@EricL

I've run into a bit of an issue with the original idea you suggested. There is a stop gap (wood panel where the join would go for the wooden barrier. I would need to cut a bit of it away for a snug fit.

So now I'm considering changing plans and using these instead.

I've taken a photo of the issue. See below.
