How to revive lawn after using Zero?

My husband used zero by mistake to spray on the lawn in June. The lawn is nearly dead.

Re: How to revive lawn after using Zero?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @SandraSP. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about reviving a lawn.

I'm so sorry to hear about your lawn. Since we’re just coming into spring, the best approach right now is to hold off and see how much recovery the lawn can make on its own as the weather warms up. At the moment, it’s still dormant, so it won’t really start growing until conditions improve. It’s a good sign that there are some patches of life showing through.

How much it bounces back naturally will dictate the way forward. If only small areas recover, it’s often best to remove and replace the entire lawn. If most of it comes back, except for a few bare spots, then replacing the grass just in those areas could be the better option.

In the meantime, applying a Seasol tonic every few weeks will give the lawn the best chance of recovering as strongly as possible.

Here are some helpful guides: How to fix bare patches in a lawn and How to lay turf.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to revive lawn after using Zero?

Hi MitchellMc, thank you for your information and advice. I will try and wait to see how it is going. I 've found somthing called ' Lawn Pro Buffalo Blend grass seed' online. Can I try it when it comes to the growing season later if I don't want to remove and replace the lawn. Thank you!

Re: How to revive lawn after using Zero?

Re-seeding the lawn is certainly an option @SandraSP, especially if it comes back patchy. However, if the majority doesn't grow back, then re-turfing would be the fastest way to reestablish the lawn.

Do note that the seed you have there is a "blend", so if you're looking for a purely Buffalo lawn, check the "blend" is with fertiliser and wetting agent and not another variety of seed.
