I have looked at the posts for lilly pilly problems and can't seem to find anything similar to my problem.
In the photos you can see on the top of the leaves there is silver/grey patches and the underside is similar with a few brown spots. I have already had 2 trees die and others are following. There doesn't seem to be any pests visible. The white patches do not rub off.
Good Morning @tats108 Welcome to the Workshop Community and thank you for sharing your question regarding your Lilly Pilly problem. To me, this is just my opinion. It looks like a bad Spider Mites infestation. From the pictures you have shared and thank you for posting them, the leaves look silvery which is a clear indication of Spider Mite damage.
They are microscopic insects that rasp and suck out the chlorophyll in the leaves weakening the plant. It’s very common.
I would recommend to cut back the infected leaves, Lilly Pilly can handle a hard prune and regrow easily. Then spray it with an insecticidal soap spray called Natrasoap. Spray it thoroughly and please make sure to wear protective clothing including gloves and mask when spraying. Follow the instructions on the bottle for application. I’ll tag @Noelle as I would like her to have a look but from those pictures I’m pretty sure it’s Spider Mites. I hope that this will help you out 🙂🌿🌿
This is Natrasoap which is good for controlling Spider Mites
Hi @tats108
I echo @mich1972 's welcome and also the diagnosis of spider mites. The advice provided is excellent and the product recommended should greatly assist in control of this pest. You will need to be vigilant and consistent - it's likely more than one application may be needed at weekly intervals, with such a severe infestation.
Hello @tats108
Allow me to welcome you as well to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us. It's great that you've received excellent advice from @mich1972 and @Noelle. I totally agree with the suggested steps and my only added recommendation is to use Seasol 600mL Concentrate to help fortify the roots.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
