How to stop bugs eating the leaves of my guava plant?

Hi

I have a little guava plant in the pot and is located in a reasonable sunny location in the backyard (few hours of sun every day)

Can you please advise what kind of bugs are eating the leave of my guava plant ?

I cannot see any bugs on the leave.

I even tried to spray it with eco white oil, but I don't think it fixes this issue.

Thanks very much

Re: bugs eating the leave of my guava plant

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Q04982004. It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for your question.

Some of that damage looks distinctively like caterpillar chew marks. If they are caterpillars, then a product like Yates 40g Natures Way Caterpillar Killer Dipel Insecticide would be effective. Alternatively, for a systemic pesticide, you can use Yates 750ml Mavrik Gun.

Let me mention the very knowledgeable @Noelle as I'm not finding many references to caterpillars eating guava leaves online.

They are beetles that cause this damage, small and reddish brown in colour. I haven't found a fix yet apart from picking them off.

Hello @jjob222

For increased control of adult leaf eating beetles, I also suggest using Yates 750ml Ready To Use Pyrethrum Insecticide. Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when using chemical sprays. My best advice is to make sure to spray under the leaves for full coverage.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
