Is a Ryobi Pruner compatible with 36V hedge pole trimmer?

I have a Ryobi 36V pole hedge trimmer (model RPT3600), will the Ryobi Pole Pruner attachment from the Expand It range (model APR05) work on it?

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community.

I have contacted Ryobi who have confirmed that these two products are indeed compatible. They have also confirmed that the Ryobi Expand-It Jet Blower Attachment, Ryobi Expand It Edger Accessory and Ryobi Expand It Cultivator Attachment are also compatible.

Hi I have the 36v Pole Pruner and wanting to get the Hedge Trimmer attached, I havnt been able to find them at my local store, Are they still available? I am happy to buy online, all searches ive done I keep coming up empty. Help please

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your pole pruner.

Please allow us to get in contact with Ryobi to find out if the Hedge trimmer attachment for the 36V pole pruner is still available. At the moment all I can see on the website is the 18V variant which is not compatible with the 36V unit. As soon as we have more information, we'll get back to you.

Apologies for the delay in response. I have spoken to the team at Ryobi, who have given me an answer.

Unfortunately, the 36-volt pole hedge trimmer that was mentioned above has been discontinued, and no further shipments will be received.

They have confirmed that there is a replacement 36V pole hedge trimmer on the way. It should be available in the next couple of months.

There appears to be some confusion in this discussion. Ryobi does not manufacture a separate hedge trimmer attachment to suit the Ryobi 36V 8" 20cm Cordless Pole Pruner. This is due to the old, now-discontinued Ryobi 36V 44cm Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer using the Ryobi Expand-It Hedge Trimmer Attachment and a rear motor setup. I believe this is a design decision, as, unlike the pruner, where you can rest the front-mount motor assembly on the branch you're cutting to bear its weight, the hedge trimmer needs to be constantly held above the hedge. This would be difficult if the 36V motor were mounted at the front, not the rear, as seen on the standalone model. 

I've double-checked with Ryobi, and I do apologise, but they have no information on a 36V hedge trimmer attachment with motor becoming available at this stage. My colleague Jacob was likely mentioning that a "replacement 36V pole hedge trimmer" will be in-store soon. That's a complete unit, not a head attachment.
