I would love to know, if rats or mice are able to climb the plastic raised garden beds, please?
I am sick of them getting into the corrugated sided ones.
Thank you and apologies if this has been asked before.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @BusyBee1. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about raised garden beds.
It's unlikely that rats would be able to climb the plastic legs of those raised garden beds, as the surface is usually quite smooth and offers little grip. That said, rats are surprisingly agile and can jump quite high—though probably not the full 655mm to the top.
If they’ve been getting into your corrugated-sided beds, which also tend to have slick surfaces, it might be worth considering whether they’re jumping up rather than climbing. How tall are your current beds? Is there anything nearby—like a wall, tree, or even a compost bin—that could give them a boost or serve as a launching point?
Another possibility is that it’s not rats at all—possums can easily reach higher spots and make fairly long jumps, so they’re worth considering as the culprits too.
Have you thought about using a fine netting or mesh cover over your crop to block access altogether? That can be an effective solution regardless of which animal is visiting.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for your super helpful reply.
It's definitely rats or large mice, I've seen them when my dog chases them, unfortunately she's not a deterrent enough.
I do have a compost bin, that I'll have to change to a tumbler one, as I think they're finding a way in.
Time to reno the garden patch 😎
