white stuff on my plants

Hi Bunnings Community!

I need some help to figure out what this white stuff is on my plants.

They are on the native plant and some of the green rocket euonymus shrubs.

Dont want my plants dying off!

I'm not sure if its fungus, pest or something completely ddifferent like eggs 😳

Toowoomba Region - Qld (not sure if location helps at all)

Any help is appreciated!!

Re: white stuff on my plants

Hi @ajs_,

They appear to be cottony cushion scale (Icerya purchasi), which is a small insect that encapsulates itself in a waxy coating for protection.

My suggestion is to spray them with Yates Ready To Use Scale Gun Insect Pest Killer. This product contains white oil, which breaks down the waxy protective coating of the scale, and pyrethrum, which then kills the insect once the coating is compromised.

Spray directly onto the affected areas, making sure the scale insects are thoroughly covered, particularly along stems and branch joints. Repeat the application weekly if required until the infestation is under control.

Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
