How to connect a benchtop dishwasher to a tap?

I am considering buying a benchtop dishwasher, but am not sure what is currently available so as to connect the hose to the kitchen tap.

5 years ago (YouTube video) a person could buy two parts to make that connection: a) Sink Tap Click On and b) NYLEX brass sprinkler adapter.

Bunnings seems to not sell either anymore.

IMAGES BELOW:

1) MY KITCHEN TAP: Is this ideal for a dishwasher hose to be attached and also easy enough to take the aerator off?

2) TAP CONNECTIONS YOUTUBE:

This is what BUNNINGS sold 5 years ago so are these still available or is something else now in their place?

3) HOSE HOLDER(?): What is holding this hose up? Does Bunnings sell anything like this, also, a contraption that can keep the drain hose fixed to the sink area whilst the dishwasher is on.

The USA has this fantastic 3 in one tap connector that is a part of the dishwasher components/parts/kit when sold and it is such a shame that is not available here as it keeps the drain hose in place to face down the sink plus you can press a red button so as to get a glass of water etc.

Anyways, to reiterate, what is available now so that I can attach the hose to the kitchen tap? Don't want to buy anything if it is going to be a hassle getting tap connection parts.

Thanks!

How to connect benchtop dishwasher to kitchen sink?

Hi I have a devanti benchtop dishwasher I want to connect to my kitchen faucet (female, mixer, 1nch opening without aerator). I'd like some sort of diverter so I can flip a switch and still use my kitchen sink tap as normal when needed. Is this possible

Re: connect benchtop dishwasher to kitchen sink

Hey Jacob,

I did check it out but I didn't want to clip off the set up every time I want to use the kitchen tap and I wanted it to be all Chrome still.

I did figure out another set up (I have attached photos of what I bought and where I got it from)

There is a small drip leak from the top of the tap where the aerator Adaptor attaches to the tap when it is on full but the dishwasher isn't using the water, is there a way to fix this?

I have used plumbers tape and a washer on the inside and outside it did improve but it didn't completely fix it.

(Also this isn't in the set up yet but I bought a hex socket cp 15mm [from bunnings] and another Spout adapter and Aerator adaptor to add a Aerator so the water that comes out the bottom end is like a normal kitchen tap but haven't found a aerator that attaches to the 13mm Male Adaptor or the 13 mm female Spout adapter)

- Aerator Adaptor Male to Male 13mm (local plumbing store)

- Spout Adaptor for Hand Shower 13mm (local plumbers but bunnings has one Kinetic dishwasher adapter)

- Kinetic Chrome Handspray Diverter (bunnings)

- Bush screwed brass 20mm x 15mm chrome (local plumbers but bunnings has one)

- Brasshards 15mm Chrome Plated Brass Hex Socket (from bunnings not in set up yet)

Female 1/2" inlet attached  Spout ( washer inside the female inlet, plumbers tape on both male outlets )

Hi @Sunrise23,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community.

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Can you clarify what you mean?

I'll happily assist further once you've clarified.

Re: connect benchtop dishwasher to kitchen sink

Hi @Jade34,

It looks like a perfect set-up for what you are looking to achieve. Congratulations on a great job so far.

It sounds like you've done pretty much everything you can to stop the drip. The only suggestion I can make that may help reduce this drip is around the technique used to apply your plumber's tape.

If you start by cutting a length of plumber's tape and rolling it into a long thin sausage, you can wrap this sausage around the thread inside the grooves. Once the entire groove of the thread is filled by this sausage, you can then wrap over the top with 2-3 layers of flat plumber's tape to hold it in place. This technique ensures the grooves are fuller meaning there are no gaps for water to creep through.

It looks like you should be able to use either this FIX-A-TAP 13mm 1/2" Female Swivel Aerator or this FIX-A-TAP 13mm 1/2" Male Swivel Aerator with your adaptor. You'd obviously have to test the fit to see, but this could be an option.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

How to install benchtop dishwasher?

Never plumbed a thing in my life and I'm a bit overwhelmed trying to find answers. Every variation of this question seems to have a different method, different parts needed.

I'm planning on getting this Devanti benchtop dishwasher. How might I install it to this sink tap? (Ignore the state of the house, crappy rental)

Re: How would I install this benchtop dishwasher?

Hi @bellamoure,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Unfortunately, there isn't a simple way to connect a benchtop dishwasher to this tap. Have a look at the previous discussion How to connect a benchtop dishwasher to a tap?

You'll have to start by removing the aerator from the tap, so you have access to the internal thread.

It's hard to see, but your aerator will either have grooves around the outside diameter, like on this Caché Cascade Aerator, which you can grip with an Aerator Key to rotate out, or it could have two slots like this Male Swivel Aerator that you can grip with needle nose pliers. Can you feel either of these things on your aerator?

Once we can get the aerator out, we'll be able to measure the diameter of the outside thread to select suitable parts to adapt out to your benchtop connector hose.

Can you advise what the diameter of the head on the connector hose is? They are usually 3/4 inch BSP, which is roughly 20mm.

Hopefully, you'll be able to use the Pope Indoor Tap Adaptor, Nylex 12mm Brass Sprinkler Adaptor and Holman 12mm Double Ended Hose Connector mentioned in the above discussion, but I'd like to confirm that they will fit to ensure you have the best plan possible.

Let me know how you go.

Jacob

Re: How would I install this benchtop dishwasher?

Here's a closer look. Those are key grooves, right? Is it possible to use the pliers on this type too? I don't want to try it myself in case I break it.

I was under the impression the outer chrome was part of the aerator, so I could just get a wrench and unscrew it. That's not the case?

I can confirm the hose is 3/4 inch.

Re: How would I install this benchtop dishwasher?

Hi @bellamoure,

There's a good chance that the outer chrome section will unscrew using multi-grip pliers. Remember to protect the finish with a cloth, as it scratches easily. If it doesn't unscrew, then you could try the aerator key.
