How to paint pvc venetians?

Can you please tell me how to go about painting my new Bunnings pvc venetians. I have as paint sprayer if that helps. I do not want to dismantle as I may not be able to put it together.

Would prefer to not have to sand it if poss .

Re: Painting pvc venetians

Hi @Leannerobbo,

Not too many paints adhere adequately to PVC, and their longevity is compromised by its typically smooth surface. Depending on the colour you're going for, I'd suggest considering White Knight Squirts Spray Paint, as it has the best properties for adhering to plastic. I'd encourage you to do a test section and wait 24hrs for the paint to cure. You can then place some clear sticky tape over the area. Rip the sticky tape off and see whether it pulls the paint off. If it doesn't then you know that it's bound fairly well and can commit to the rest of the blind.

Using the spray paint, you might be able to spray from different angles to hit all sides of the blades. You'll need to do this in several steps, waiting for the paint to dry each time before adjusting the blades to a different angle.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Mitchell.
Great advice.
Would it adhere better with a fine sand?

Re: Painting pvc venetians

That would assist @Leannerobbo. Light scratching the surfaces with 240-grit would do the job. You don't need to sand heavily, just a light abrasion to key the surface. It might be worth doing the sticky tape test first, as not having to sand would save you a bunch of effort.
