Hi just bought a new xu1 2 in 1 pole pruner hedger. Wondering about purchase of additional battery as ones sold in tool shop don't fit. Is it a special order and can I get something over 1.5 amps.
Thank you ..
Hi Eric,
I'm quite annoyed about this, I bought one last September and I see on Bunnings website that this is still available for purchase.
Under Australian consumer law: Manufacturers guarantee that facilities for the repair of goods and parts for the goods will be reasonably available for a reasonable period after the goods are supplied.
Furthermore, you have the right to expect that batteries, chargers, or other parts will be available for a reasonable time (usually several years).
If no parts are available, and you weren’t told this upfront, it may be considered misleading or a breach of consumer guarantees.
I understand I’m entitled to a reasonable availability of replacement parts for a new product. This tool is unusable without a compatible battery, and no alternative parts are available. I wasn't advised of this at purchase. I’d like to resolve this—either with a refund, exchange, or suitable remedy.
Kind regards, Greg
Hi Greg (@divepig),
Welcome to the Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
That is completely reasonable, and I will support you in finding a resolution.
I have reached out via PM to get some further details.

Howdy Paul60,
Been there done that and sorry to say that is not a new XU1 product.
That battery powered a previous range of XU1 workshop and garden tools and is no longer available.
Here is a copy of one of my blog posts dated Feb 2017 that used the same battery you are holding.

Bunnings - XU1 cordless garden tools.
Had to return my blower with a noisy motor so did that and went to hopefully get another one. I say hopefully because the XU1 tools are only promo meaning Xmas, Easter, Fathers Day etc. Well...got down to the garden tool area and (oh joy) there was a nice staff guy clearing XU1 tools into a trolley - including 'leftover' XU1 stuff - which had already been marked down to 50% and less. So...grabbed 3 x blowers, another grass trimmer (have one already) and - a hedge trimmer. The hedge trimmer sitting on top of the grass trimmer (no box, battery or charger) was $30 bucks - happy with that.

Cheers
Battery backwards compatibility is one of the features that set manufacturers apart, I am aware that Ryobi 18v batteries can be used in all their 18v products regardless of release date, had I not been gifted Ozito PXC cordless power tools (starter pack) I would most likely have gone that route myself 😉
I am in the same boat. I purchased this pruner less than 12 months ago from Bunnings, only to find that the current battery is no good after minimal use, and I cannot buy a replacement. If I were aware the product was going to be discontinued, I would have never purchased it. I don't understand why Bunnings is still selling this item.
Hello @JohnnyPC
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us.
I'm sorry to hear that you could not get an XU1 battery for your pruner. Can you please tell us the exact model number of the unit that you have. It should have a model tag number attached to the main body. Some XU1 batteries need to be specially ordered at the special orders desk, once you provide us with the model number, we'll try to track it down.
You may also speak directly to the Spare Parts Team on 1800 772 737 or fill in the form on the website.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
Eric
The model is
Hi @JohnnyPC,
There are replacement batteries available for the XU1 18V Cordless 2-In-1 Pole Pruner And Hedge Trimmer 1.5Ah Kit XPPHT-0185, as well as the rest of the current range of XU1 gardening equipment. This unit is not being discontinued. The battery can be ordered through the Special Orders desk of your nearest store or by contacting our Spare Parts team, for whom Eric has given details above. The product number for this battery is 300088901034.
There was a previous range of XU1 equipment, several years old, which has been discontinued now and is not compatible with this current battery.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
