Can I get a custom tinted Dulux spray can?

Can I get a custom tinted Dulux spray can?

Can one tint the color in a standard Dulux spray can to be a custom color?  I want to match the color of other garden fixtures with the color of a new lattice that is very labor-intensive to paint manually.  Please advise the cost per can and the spray can coverage.  Your advice will be very appreciated.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @LenPower. It's wonderful to have you join us and many thanks for your question on spraycans.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to create custom colours in Dulux spray cans. However, you might want to consider using a budget-friendly spray gun instead. The coverage of standard spray pack cans is quite limited, and for a project like your lattice, spraying a water-based paint that’s tinted to your desired colour would likely be more cost-effective and faster than trying to use multiple spray cans.

Here's a helpful guide: Power painting.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell,

Can you recommend a good performing budget-friendly spray gun from the link you included?  Any tips on using the spray guns with existing tinted acrylic paint?

Re: Can I get a custom tinted Dulux spray can?

Hi @LenPower,

Personally, I use the Wagner W350 Wood And Metal Paint Sprayer, so I can certainly recommend that. However, there are more budget-friendly options, such as the Ozito 400W Power Paint Spray Gun, which will work just as well.

With these handheld units, you usually need to water down the paint. For pre-tinted acrylic paint, I'd go with 10% water. It just allows it to flow much better out of the pot. I actually painted some lattice with the Wagner spray gun a couple of weekends ago. Saved me a heap of time compared to hand-painting something like that. Grab yourself some old cardboard to test spray onto. That will allow you to practise and get familiar with the spray pattern. Also, make sure you have a drop sheet beneath the lattice so you don't get overspray on anything.
