The Eurotec 53–82mm Medium Pro Feet Pedestals are really designed for solid, stable surfaces like concrete slabs @miraperry. Using them directly on dirt isn’t ideal because soil can compress or shift over time, which means your pedestals could sink or become uneven. If you really want to go over soil, the key is making sure the ground is extremely well-compacted. That usually means hiring a plate compactor to compact the soil thoroughly and maybe even adding a layer of compacted gravel beneath to give it more stability. Technically, you can do it without concrete, but it comes with a real risk that the pedestals might move or settle unevenly over time, especially under the weight of pavers. If you want a long-lasting, stable installation, a concrete slab or a solid engineered base is much safer.

If you are looking to avoid subsidence in the future, @miraperry, it would be best to compact the ground before laying them. You could lay them directly on soil, but over time you might see them sink to some extent, depending on the amount of traffic over them.
