Re: How to fix and renew wood veneer chairs?

Hi @Ros777,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

Unfortunately, once veneers have chipped away at the edges, you cannot truly restore them to their original condition, but you can certainly tidy it up.

First, make sure all remaining veneer is firmly bonded. Any loose edges should be glued down using PVA glue before doing anything else.

For the chipped areas, the practical fix is to fill them with a red-toned timber filler such as Timbermate Jarrah Wood Filler. Once cured, sand it very lightly so it blends smoothly into the surrounding surface.

This filler will, unfortunately, not emulate the grain pattern of the timber, so if you'd like to emulate this, then you could try using a red stain such as this Cabot's Jarrah Water Based Deck And Exterior Timber Stain and apply it with a craft brush, emulating the natural grain pattern as closely as you can.

Once the stain has dried, use a clear exterior varnish as a protective coat.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
