How do I fix broken mail box?

Does anyone think that I need to replace the whole mail box? Or is there a way to fix this ?

Re: How do I fix broken mail box?

Hi @Frankie45

It's hard to tell from the image is the post snapped, or does it just need to be reset in the ground? Maybe share some more close ups so the Workshop community can provide more detailed advice?

I recently built a new letterbox that was completely damaged and unrepairable and learnt that posties can be quite particular about access and height so might be worth considering if repairing or building new.

If you decide to build a new one take a look at my project for some inspiration Blackbutt parcel letterbox | Bunnings Workshop community there are some other great letterbox projects on here as well.

Re: How do I fix broken mail box?

Hello @Frankie45

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your mailbox.

It's great that you've received excellent advice from @Herrenovacation

It appears that your mailbox post has rusted out and finally deteriorated. If the actual mailbox is still in good condition, it can still be repaired by replacing the post with a Sandleford 1100 x 25mm Cream Letterbox Post. The old cement footing will need to be dug out and the new one set in place. The old mailbox can be attached to the new post with a nut and bolt set.

The other option of course is to install a new modern mailbox with or build a classic brick post with a mailbox built into it. I also suggest having a look at this discussion - Homemade mailbox by @MartyH

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
