How to build a deck on alfresco and extended paved area?
Hi everyone, I plan to build a deck at my new build. I have a question about drainage under the deck. Does it mean I need a sloped ground instead of leveled to help with drainage away from house structure? If so, how am I gonna build a leveled deck on a slopped ground?
Before the deck, I also need to pave to extend alfresco, do I need to slope this area too?
Thanks

Re: How to build a deck on alfresco and extended paved area?
Hello @shaysun
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your decking project.
Your decks footing will be holding your decking frame in place. This means that you can adjust the pitch of the deck so that it is level even if the ground has a slope. For example, if you were starting from the top of the slope the deck footing would not need to be so tall, but as you move further on, and the slope becomes deeper this means that the post of the deck becomes taller so that you can adjust the level of your decking frame.
In regards to the alfresco, it would be prudent to put a slight slope so that water will not stand in that area.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Re: How to build a deck on alfresco and extended paved area?
Thanks Eric.
So I need to cut the bottom of each post to suit the slope like this?

Re: How to build a deck on alfresco and extended paved area?
Hi @shaysun
You've got the right idea, but since the footing will be anchored into the soil it is the top section of the post that needs to be trimmed.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Build a low level decking with 75mm clearance
So unfortunately I only have 75mm clearance Im thinking to put 90*45 90mm face up with angle bracket to secure onto paving and concrete, leaving like 6mm drainage which adds up to 75=45 frame+6 drainage+24 decking. Can you please suggest the brackets, nails, and spacing of bracket, frames?
Decking would be 5.5m by 3.5m
Thank you

Re: Build a low level decking with 75mm clearance
Hi @shaysun,
In order to face fix timber, you couldn't use an angle bracket. Instead, place 5mm packers under the timber every 1000mm and Dynabolt through the top of the timber into the substrate beneath.
