Hi,
Purchased some Sienna micropro H4 sleepers to make a seat. Note I haven't attached the legs just included in the picture to give a rough idea for what I'm going for
Issue is that the timber has definitely seen better days. Wondering if it's okay for me to sand this timber down? If so any recommended tools to make the job quicker and easier?
As well as might potentially stain it to give it a nice look. Any good recommendations for products to use that will remain safe to sit on?
Thanks
Hello @darcyDIY
Please allow us to contact our supplier in regards to sanding the surface of the Sienna micropro H4. As soon as we have more information, we'll get back to you.
Thank you for your patience.

Hello @darcyDIY
Thank you for your patience. Our supplier has relayed to us that they don't recommend sanding the surface of the sleeper as it will lessen its protection.
As an alternative, I would recommend using non-treated hardwood for your seating project. A good example would be 140 x 19mm 5.7m SpecRite Merbau Joined Set Length Pre-Oiled Decking. Although not as thick and bulky it can be constructed in such a manner that it looks like it has a thick side profile.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks Eric! Appreciate you looking into this
I ended up going back to Bunnings and picking out another piece of Sienna timber for this seat
But will keep the Merbau in mind for next time as it's definitely a good alternative
