I have this awning window and the awning window hook/stay which clips to the hinge when installed is broken, where can I find a replacement or what are my options for fixing this please?
Hi @ELI5,
This type of awning window hinge system is unfortunately quite outdated, and exact replacement parts are typically not available through standard retail stores because these hooks and stays are no longer commonly used on modern windows. Finding an exact match would be very difficult.
Your practical options are limited. One approach is to replace the entire hinge system with a modern equivalent that will fit the window frame and allow the window to operate safely. Another option, if you want to retain the original hardware, is to have a custom bracket or hook fabricated to suit the existing hinge, though that usually requires a metalworker or specialist fabricator.
Because this is older technology, there isn’t a simple off-the-shelf solution, so either updating to a contemporary hinge system or commissioning a custom part are the realistic paths forward.
If you can show us more images from different angles and how the window operates with this hinge type we might be able to advise on available hardware that could suit.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
