Hi All,
My dash cam suction cup adhesive is no more working properly so I was wondering if I could find anything on the Bunnings to fix this.
People I know with motorhomes and RV's have this problem all the time with extra gear mounted on the windscreen and they just use silicone adhesive.
If the actual suction cap is loose just rip it off and glue the base directly onto the windscreen.
When removing no issues the silicon just peels off.
Hi @TipTopClone,
It might be worth contacting the dash cam’s manufacturer to see if a replacement suction mount or spare part is available — some brands do offer them separately. If the suction mechanism itself has failed and there’s no replacement option, then following @AlanM52’s suggestion of using a silicone adhesive to fix the base directly to the windscreen could be a good workaround. Just ensure you pick up one that is suitable for glass, such as Selleys 75g Clear Glass Silicone Sealant.
Unfortunately, there’s not really another adhesive I could confidently recommend for bonding plastic to glass in a way that’s strong, clear, and easily removable. Silicone tends to offer the best combination of hold and flexibility, especially in vehicles exposed to heat and vibration.
