Hi everyone! Just wondering how I can fix the latch on my gate for the garage. The striker bolt is not slotting into the tongue and instead rubbing against the base of the latch.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
The screws holding up both the striker and the tongue can be loosened and moved up or down fo align.
it is quite typical for the door to droop over time causing this misalignment.
Hello @Dave_7
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your gate latch.
It's great that you've received spot on advice from @J-P. By loosening the screws on the striker you'll be able to adjust its height. However, if there is no more space to move, I propose transferring the location of the screws so that you can adjust the striker upwards and realigning the gate latch. Another option although much more involved is to adjust the level of your gate. This can involve adjusting the hinges or the post itself. But if the gate is just ever so slightly off level the adjustment of the striker is the fastest solution you can apply.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
