what is the best way to fix this. The metal hinge has come off the gate. It hasn't broken. The hinge comes off the gate sides.
Looks easy enough just unsure how to reattach
Hi @Krystelmwynne,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
I'm a little bit confused. Are your photos showing two different gates?
It looks like the gate frames were manufactured with the hinge plate welded to them, and over time, the weld has broken off the gate frame. Is this correct?
If so, then you could either have them welded back on or you could reattach them with stainless steel rivets. If you could give me a rough thickness, in millimetres, of both the hinge plate and the gate frame, I would be happy to advise which rivet would be best.
Once we've selected the right rivets for the job, you would need to predrill some pilot holes in the hinge plate and the gate frame so the rivet can be slipped through and popped using a rivet gun.
I'll assist further when you can get back to me.
Jacob
