What's a quick way to fix up a couple of loose exterior bricks ?
Had to loosen a couple of bricks to let a trapped possum ( in between frame and exterior brickwork) and need to put them back.
Hi @vng,
Thank you for your question about how to replace removed bricks.
The simple answer is to replace them, more or less as they were installed in the first place, by mortaring them in place.
Mix up some mortar, then use a Brick Trowel to press the mortar onto both the inside of the opening and the outside of the brick. Some mortar will push out of the opening when you push the brick in place, but as long as there is an adequate amount between the bricks, it will dry and hold solidly.
Once the brick has been pressed into place with mortar all around, you can use a Tuck Pointer to tidy up the mortar lines and push more mortar in if needed.
You can then clean up the bricks with a sponge if required.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for that. Is there a quick set mortar ?
Do I need to remove the old mortar first or just spread it over the existing ?
