I’m renovating on a small budget and have this issue with the pool coping. The pavers have sharp stones all over them. I’m new to this so I’m not sure if they’re pebble crete.
Can someone please suggest if there is a cost effective way to fix them. I’ve read other posts about kits that can be purchased to repair pebble crete but it said you had to have a smooth surface to begin with. I’ve attached a photo.

Hi @AilsW1,
Hope all is well.
Just wondering which way you are proceeding with this repair job? The page views indicate that this is a common problem so it would be great if you could share an update when you make progress.
Many thanks,
Jason
I have had no luck whatsoever Jason. Had a couple of people come and look at it but they basically said rip them up and start again 😟
Hi @AilsW1
I admit to being an amateur and never owned a pool.
But I can highly recommend, and I believe it would work superbly - a Zec grinding disc for smoothing out that protruding 'coral' appearance on the bricks.
They were from Bunnings - S/N code in black.
I can show you how good they are on cutting back and smoothing out concrete.
Just one issue - they really need a 9" angle grinder.
Just an afternoon thought.
Cheers and good luck.
That’s awesome thank you. I don’t know of anyone who could actually use that grinder though. If I put an ad up somewhere, what is it I’m looking for as far as the job would go.
thanks ☺️
Thanks Eric I don’t suppose you know anybody who could do this as I have never even used one of those tools before 😞
Hi Dave I have replacement pavers but I had a bricklayer / paver come out and look and he said he’d only do it if I paid $5000 just for the coping alone. He as good as said it would be a pain to get them off and didn’t really want the job.
Hello @AilsW1
I suggest posting the job on Hipages or Airtasker. My best advice is to put in as much information as possible and be very clear about what kind of repair you are after. Make sure to include your pictures to give the trades a very good idea of what you want repaired. The more information you put in the more likely you'll get a response. My best advice is to ask for references and to look at their social media posts to see their past work.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Thanks so much Eric
