How to hide gap between concrete driveway and front porch tiles?

We have recently upgraded our driveway to exposed concrete, however not keen on the gap showing between the top of the concrete and where the front porch tiles sit. See pics for reference.
keen to pick your brains for some self help ways to make it more pleasing on the eyes. Happy if it’s only something superficial.

Sorry for the delay in responding @sjh_86.

Let me tag some helpful members in @r23on@Nailbag and @Dave-1 who might like to share their thoughts in how to handle this gap.

One of our resident Bunnings D.I.Y. experts will also be happy to help as soon as possible.

Re: How to hide gap between concrete driveway and front porch tiles?

Good morning @sjh_86

Thats a nice looking exposed concrete driveway  My first thought was a Hardwood timber threshold that you then would use some timber oil on to seal it. A darker colour or a red would look pretty nice next to the driveway and tiles. It would look like a breaker board for a deck, just thicker.

I would attach the timber strip to the concrete with anchor screws Ramset 8 x 75mm Galvanised AnkaScrew Masonry Anchor They do come in gold/brass and black colouring as well plus various sizes.

Hi As suggested a nice pice of hard wood as a facing to dress it up it could look nice. However be awear it will rot out overtime due to weather conditions. A section of Merbau will withstand weather conditions better plus there is little work to change colour if need.

good luck with your project

Re: How to hide gap between concrete driveway and front porch tiles?

Hello @sjh_86

I'm in agreement with @Dave-1 and @r23on in regards to the cover. It will be a nice accent to the entire entrance as it is made of tiles and cement. The natural finish of the timber will provide an excellent contrast to the overall look of the entrance. One other option is to render the edge with mortar to give it a nice tidy appearance.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to hide gap between concrete driveway and front porch tiles?

Hi @sjh_86

I would definitely return the entrance tile down that front gap to the path. Then on the external corner edge install an aluminium external trim to protect the tile from chipping. This would avoid any long term maintenance of a non-masonry trim and blend in seamlessly without introducing another material.
