Re: installing a pup and fountain in a pond

Hi @auroracrystals,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

We have this handy guide on our website on How To Install a Pond Pump, which should answer many of your questions about installing a pond pump.

There is also this article from @Adam_W on How to install a garden pond, which provides some great information.

If you had specific questions about the process, could you please let us know some details so we can assist?

Re: installing a pmup and fountain in a pond

Thanks Jacob

We have just moved to a new house which has a waterfall and pump that does not work. we are trying to find actually what we need to have the water fall working plus the water fall in the main pond working - many thanks for help,  Brian

Re: installing a pup and fountain in a pond

Hi Brian (@auroracrystals),

How big a waterfall and pond are we talking about here?

The two main things that are important are matching the pump to the volume of the pond and the height the water needs to be raised.

If you can provide some details about the rough size of the pond, the height the water needs to be raised from the pond to the top of the waterfall and maybe some photos, I could certainly assist you with selecting the right products.

Each pump is going to be slightly different in terms of its installation, but once we know what we can use, I can certainly give you some guidance on how to install it.

Re: installing a pup and fountain in a pond

Hi Brian (@auroracrystals),

In terms of volume, it doesn't look too large, so the main thing is the height.

If there is already a pump, it would be a simple case of filling the water feature to a level that allows the water to cascade down between the pools, then placing the pump in the lowest pool and attaching a hose that brings it back to the highest pool. You have an outdoor electrical point in place, so you would just need to plug the pump in.

If the pump is not working, then this AQUAPRO AP1050 Water Feature Pump would be a suitable alternative. You would just need to grab some AQUAPRO 12mm x 3m Anti-Kink Tubing and route it up to the top pool, then plug the pump in.

I hope this helps.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Re: installing a pump and fountain in a pond

Hi Jacob

Further to the above I have found the inlet pipe at the bottom pool which is a small piece of garden hose and by putting a hose to this pipe the water comes out at the top pond.

However not too sure where the pump is, but the pump that you have indicated, which sits in the pond. could this be plumbed into the hose at the bottom pool where the pump will be sitting, and if this can be done then it will pump the water up to the top pond.

Many thanks for all the help

Brian

Re: installing a pup and fountain in a pond

Hi @auroracrystals,

Have you got a photo of the entrance to the inlet pipe that you can show us? What is its diameter?

I imagine there would be a way to simply run the outlet hose from the pump into it, but we'd have to see it and know some details to be confident.

You may just need to use some Clear Vinyl Tubing and their joiners, or something like that to connect the pump into the inlet hose.

I will wait and see what you are working with and assist further.

Re: installing a pup and fountain in a pond

Thanks Jacob

In the photo of the pond that I sent, you can see a patch of green at the bottom of the main pool and that is the hose which is just a piece of garden hose which is 15 mm on the outside

Appreciate all the help and feel that we are now getting somewhere

Brian
