We've just finished staining our ashpalt carpad and want to tidy the edge that buts against the concrete pavers. What's the best product and process for this. Once tidy we'd then apply the same black stain.
Many thanks!
Greg
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @gregrogan. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing asphalt.
What was there before that you've now removed? I suspect they've previously covered that edge, as I can't think of an asphalt-based product that could fill the voids. We have Dingo 20kg Bitumen Repair, but it is not designed for verticle repairs, and it needs to be compacted to be effective. You don't often find asphalt meeting at corners as it doesn't have much structural integrity in that application.
You might be best to frame up some formwork, insert reo-mesh and pour a concrete edging. Tying the reo-mesh back to the asphalt would be best to avoid movement in the concrete edging. I see some threaded rods or Dynabolts coming out of the asphalt, which could be used to tie the mesh in. Alternatively, a nice 140mm high Merbau decking board could be used to cover this face.
I'm not sure what black stain you've used on the asphalt, but you'd need to check whether it is compatible with the new concrete edging.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
