Hi All,

Just looking for some advice on how to fix an overflow gutter outlet that comes through an external rendered wall to make it watertight?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Samp7,

Wondering what happened, that rainwater install would have required a licensed plumber even if it's not connected to the house.

No wonder you are concerned that will cause damage (something not right) and you will need a plumber to fix all that.

Thanks for your reply @AlanM52. Unsure what happened. It's a place I just moved into and I will definitely get a plumber to fix. I just thought of reaching out to the experts here to know what the requirements are to make this compliant

Hi @Samp7,

Very wise move to join the workshop 👍

RE: It's a place I just moved into...

OK... now I can say... that was a illegal rainwater tank installation.

Thanks, @AlanM52.

Sounds like I need to chase up the builders. It doesn't sound like a quick fix.

Hello @Samp7

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your gutter.

It's great that you've received excellent advice from @AlanM52. It does appear to be jury rigged so that the overflow goes into the box catcher which is linked to the water tank. Yes, it does appear to be roughly worked in and was not finished properly. Any water that flows under that outlet will enter your brick wall and cause mould and mildew infestation. I agree with your plan to speak with your builder and have it properly repaired.
