I have very limited budget of around 5 to 7k to uplift the exterior looks. What is the best color choice for me if I am just planning to update the eaves gutter gables and facia. Do I need to do the roof as well as we have to install solar panels.
Hello @sjejani
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your exterior colours.
The current colour of your trims is making your house look very dark. It does give your house a very distinct definition, but its dark shade makes the rest of the walls look darker than they really are. I propose using a bright cream colour to uplift the image of the house. In regards to your window frames, I suggest engaging the services of a professional to spray paint them in the same bright cream colour. Due to the height and its location, it would be best to leave this to the professionals.
Here is a sample image rendered using AI to give you an idea what the house will look lie with a bright cream coloured trim.

Hi @sjejani,
It might be worth taking a slow drive around your neighbourhood and looking closely at homes that are a similar style to yours to see what gutter and fascia colours work well. That can give you a clear sense of what suits the architecture and what appeals in the context of your street. A lot of this does come down to personal preference, but choosing colours that create a clean, modern facade and that would appeal to a broad range of people is usually a safe approach, especially when working within a limited budget. You do not necessarily need to repaint the roof unless it is heavily weathered, but if you are having solar installed soon, it can be sensible to do any roof painting beforehand so you are not working around panels later. I will also tag in some of our helpful members @2Belindas, @LaCasaDIY and @EleventhCoastal to see if they have any thoughts.

Hi EricL,
Thanks for sharing the AI generated pic. I had similar thoughts of using the cream shades to speak to the char of building and brick however the painters i have taken the quotes with none of them appear to be convinced with cream shade. Most of them are inclined to use grey tones. Which makes me think how ll it make the look less crowded. Roof is grey or brown or red mostly in all of cherrybrook neighbourhood. And gutter is manor red or monument. I am not completely convinced as there is huge variety of brick shades in this area. Hence I reached out to the expert community for help on color pallatte
Colour selection for a home exterior really is quite subjective, @sjejani, and what appeals to one person may not appeal to another. The cream tone Eric suggested is certainly lighter and more uplifting than the current darker green, giving the house a fresher, more open look. That said, some people naturally prefer different tones, and it’s not unusual for painters to lean toward greys or other neutral shades because they are easier to apply over darker existing colours. Cream tones are neutral and versatile, but painting over a dark green with a lighter cream can take a bit more work, which might be why the painters weren’t immediately convinced.
Ultimately, the most important factor is that the colour suits your taste and the way you want the home to feel while you’re living there. If your goal is to sell in the future, then considering what would broadly appeal to buyers is useful, but for your own enjoyment, your personal preference should take priority. If you’re drawn to cream shades, there’s no reason why that couldn’t be the choice for your home. Investing some time with a colour consultant could also give you additional confidence and help select complementary shades for the gutters, fascia, and eaves so the overall palette works together.
