Have a 6x4 trailer which needs to be repainted sadly. Used it quite a lot and the paint has faded. A little bit of rust under the primer on the existing trailer but nothing major. Some other paint leaked on the panels when taking it to the tip. But thought it would be a good opportunity to repaint it to make it look nicer for future projects. Started using sandpaper on some parts of it to prep it.
Hello @aglyde
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about painting your trailer.
I suggest using the White Knight Rust Guard painting system. It is a step-by-step painting system that is designed for metal surfaces. However, in order to protect the paint surface from rough use, I recommend covering your trailer surface with a Matpro 1.83m Utility Tray Rubber Safety Matting or similar. Just make sure that the rubber liner you'll be putting in has holes in it to allow any trapped moisture under the liner to escape.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How To Paint Metal (the techniques used are applicable to your project)
Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your project.
