Does anyone have any tips for painting a block wall? It is currently painted so I am unsure if it needs a primer first or if I can just paint straight on top?
We are also struggling to get the wall clean. We have been using an outdoor cleaning solution with a ryobi scrubber and also hand scrubbing. So if anyone has any product recomendations that would be amazing! We also cant use a karcher as the property doesnt have water connected yet.
Hi @sammilne,
Do you have any photos of the wall that you could share? Seeing what you are working with can certainly help.
I'm assuming it is an external wall. Is that correct?
If the paint that is currently on the wall is in good condition and is bonding to the wall well with no flaking, then there is usually no need for any primer. You should be able to just apply 2 coats of an external paint using a paint roller with a Masonry Roller Cover.
What exactly are you trying to wash off the wall?
Is it just dirt, or is it greasy or oily?
If you've tried an outdoor cleaning solution with a scrubber, then using a degreaser like this Peerless JAL Cleanshop Heavy Duty Cleaner Degreaser might be the way to go. You can focus in on stains with a manual Scrub Brush if there are particular spots that are troublesome.
Let me know what you think and if you have further details to add, I can certainly assist further.
