How to protect wooden steps?

How to protect wooden steps?

We have some old wooden and weathered steps. Wondering whether there's a product we could put on them that would extend their life a bit (and perhaps also reduce slip risk).

Re: How to protect wooden steps?

Hello @kez6

Thanks for sharing your question about your timber steps. I suggest sanding the surface down with a belt sander for expedient re-surfacing. Once the steps have been properly sanded down, I suggest cleaning it with Feast Watson 1L Woodprep in combination with an Oates Long Handle Deck Scrub Brush, I propose using your power washer to clean and rinse the surface after using the woodprep.

I propose visiting your local store and looking at the stain and sealer sample board at the paint department. I suggest using Cabot's 1L Jarrah Aquadeck Exterior Decking Oil for your stairs.

Here are some handy guides that can help:

As for the anti-slip, I suggest looking at the Croc Grip 5m x 50mm Black Anti-Slip Tape.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
