My fence is made up of wood effect powder coated slats.
Some of the slats clearly havent been UV protected and have faded a lot compared to others
The faded slats are dull and have a whitish tinge to them the uV protected ones still look new
See picture, top 2 slats are faded and dull.
top 2 slats faded
The fence is about 6 years old.
I see there are products online "Rejuvenate" or "Everbrite" but they are close to $200.
Is there a cheaper product or some other knack that will restore the faded slats to their original colour?
I have seen soapy water and car wax, but is there a longer lasting way as I dont want to have to do this every year
Thank You
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @claguey. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about rejuvenating a fence.
Have you tried reaching out to the fence manufacturer? That would be the best place to start, as they might have specific recommendations or even a product they suggest for restoring their powder coating.
Outside of that, it’s going to be a bit of trial and error. You could look at lightly cleaning the faded slats and then applying a clear, UV-resistant exterior coating to help bring back some depth of colour and protect them going forward. The tricky part is that how well the coating binds to the existing powder-coated surface can be a bit unpredictable, so it’s worth testing on a small, inconspicuous section first.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
