My screening seem to have expanded and now the supports are in need of repair. Is this repairable and what is the best way to repair this? I tried to straighten it out but I am struggling to find a product that I can wedge in-between the two decks. Can anyone suggest how I may be able to repair this?
Hello @Pete112
It appears that the builder used finger jointed timber instead of using a single solid piece. It did not provide enough support to the panels and when the screen panels started to twist the timber support popped out. I suggest looking carefully at the screening panels first to see if they can still be re-installed. If they have twisted too much it will be necessary to replace them. They look like SpecRite 90 x 19mm Merbau Pre-Oiled Decking - Random Lengths - 90mm or 90 x 22mm Decking H3 Treated Pine.
I propose removing the screen panels that are overly twisted and replacing them with new ones and installing a solid timber trim piece to hold the panels securely. I suggest using the same material SpecRite 90 x 19mm Merbau Pre-Oiled Decking - Random Lengths - 90mm cut in half. My best advice is to make sure to paint the cut section so that it is protected from the weather.
