Seeking carpenter advice on plan of action to remove wooden frame that is bolted to brick retaining wall .Please see upper right of picture wood is rotted all the way and unknown to me was bogged up.
It's exposed to hot wind rain and sun.so how does a carpenter go about fixing and I mean replacing the rotted wood step bracket. Thanking in advance.
Anne.
Hi @Anniep2480,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.
My approach would be to try to replicate exactly what is there.
Can I ask for some more photos showing the underside of the steps?
I need to see how many bolts there are through the stringer.

Also, if the stringer continues up past this step, or is it a separate piece for each step?

If the stringer continues past this step, then it would be a bit more complex, as you would likely need to replace the whole stringer, which would mean removing all the steps, installing a new stringer and then reinstalling the steps.
If it were only supporting the one step, it would be much simpler. In this case, you would disconnect the step, remove the rotted stringer and then use it as a template to mark and then cut a new piece of H3 pine to act as the support for the step.
When I can see these further details, I will happily assist further.
